Writer and director Ken Matheson, listen to an idea and heart of a subject near to my heart, turning it into a beautifully written story and film. He determined all of the particulars; writing, videography, sound, interviews, and organized it into a quality touching documentary. His editorial skills kept the film visually affective and communicated a unique vision, creating a thoughtful understanding to the films sensitive subject.

The Wells Gray Community Forest approached Ken Matheson Documentaries to promote our good forestry practices and increase awareness around the benefits and opportunities of a Community Forest. We also wanted to showcase our beautiful Wells Gray country to a wide audience. The 16 minute film he produced for us was of high quality and conveyed the Community Forest’s important message into a heart warming and exciting documentary. We have received nothing but positive feedback and were able to reach viewers across the province and the world.

Little Moccasins shines a much needed light on the sins of the past, yet opens the door to making amends for the future. The journey that these modern day students take to honor the nameless native children brims with so much heart and integrity. This is a great short doc and a compelling argument for making it a feature. Bravo

Little Moccasins is full of insight, sadness … and hope. The film is a gentle tattle on one of Canada’s most shameful secrets, pulling back the covers on a past that cannot and should not be ignored.

This short video brought tears to my eyes and hope to my being. I have seen too much suffering in aboriginal communities, and the native children honoured in this video are a horrible example of that suffering. What is amazing about this video, is that there is very little anger. The emphasis is on the empathy of the children at Strathcona Tweedsmur for the children who died at the Dunbow School, and the desire of the living children to show respect for the deceased by identifying them and releasing butterflies in their names as a way of giving them peace. I only wish I could communicate the feeling in my books that I experienced in watching this video.
and hope to my being.
